Preparatory & Grammar School

Founded in 1997, the Preparatory and Grammar School forms the keystone of our academic pathway.

Situated in a Victorian building in the heart of Stoneygate, the Preparatory and Grammar schools are ideally located in a prestigious area and offer a wide range of facilities.

The Preparatory school offers a caring progressive environment for children aged 3 to 6 years, It is supported by the Nurseries and Grammar school. In essence, the Preparatory school is a co-educational day school maintaining traditional educational values in an excellent academic environment coordinated by the Montessori Teaching methods. We offer a full pre-school teaching curriculum and introduce children to the routine of classroom study gently, with an emphasis on learning through play and exploration.

Our teachers ensure that the core themes of language and numeracy are at the centre of each child’s academic development in these early years. While sharing the same campus as the Grammar school, the Preparatory school is resides in a separate building providing a safe and secure environment.

At the same time, by sharing the same campus as the grammar school, children are steadily introduced to the academic demands and structure of school life facilitating an easy transition to our Grammar School. Thus, the Preparatory School is a natural progression from our Nursery Schools and similarly it prepares children for the Grammar School.

Preparatory and Grammar School

The Grammar School offers high quality primary and secondary education complimented with Montessori teaching ethos of ‘child centred education’. All students follow a balanced curriculum, covering the National Curriculum Core and Foundation subjects, Religious Studies, French and Spanish. The school encompasses a policy where the students undertake the SATS and GCSE course work at an average of three years in advance of the National average, with over 90% of students aiming to undertake GCSE examinations in Mathematics, English and Science, between the ages of twelve and fifteen.

The National Curriculum Programmes of Study are covered and appropriate levels attained. One of the fundamental principles of the Grammar school is to provide the students with an advanced learning environment, which is aided by a policy of having a small class-to-staff ratio. Expert tuition is given by qualified tutors, in all areas of the curriculum.

The Grammar School also operates an optional accelerated curriculum where some students may study at a level of up to three years in advance of the national average.

We know that you are considering carefully your response to the changing curriculum landscape, including the introduction of the English Baccalaureate and the Wolf Review into the future of vocational education. We recognise the importance of a balanced curriculum to help all students fulfill their potential, whatever their educational needs and learning goals.
